It’s January 2 and I’m still in New Year’s resolution mode. While I’m happy with my theme of “Be Kathryn” for 2018 (and beyond). There is another one that I think is crucial for everyone to follow.

What if we all tried to love ourselves more?

Don’t groan. And don’t think that this is all about being precious and selfish.

If you approached every day with the thought, “How can I be more loving to myself today?” a lot of those resolutions would take care of themselves.

Want to lose weight?

Want to stop smoking?

Want to stop biting your nails?

Want to get more sleep?

Want to learn a new skill or get a new job?

The basis of all of those is having enough respect and concern for yourself to make those happen.

If you loved yourself more or behaved more loving towards yourself, those resolutions will be easier to keep.

“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.”  Lucille Ball

I’ve heard it said before that we don’t take care of things that we hate. You may not think that you hate yourself, but how often are you critical of your body or push yourself to exhaustion for someone else’s sake? All of those times your basically devaluing yourself and it shows.

So if you are struggling with finding a resolution or if you have a growing list that is starting to seem overwhelming, go back to basics.

Love yourself more.
